Voters reject tax increases in South Hadley override vote

SOUTH HADLEY, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Polls have closed in South Hadley, with voters deciding Tuesday on a Proposition 2 ½ override to keep the town operating at its current level.
The unofficial votes are in and neighbors have shot down both budget override options.
A ‘Yes’ vote on either a $9 million or $11 million override would’ve resulted in higher taxes of approximately $1,700 more for the average homeowner in South Hadley. A ‘No’ vote means the town still has to close that $3 million gap and officials said that could mean cuts throughout town.
Official results will be posted on the town website and clerk’s page on Wednesday.
