Washout closes road in Greenfield

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Drivers are being warned about a road closure in Greenfield after a washout caused a section of the street to collapse and become unstable.
According to Greenfield city officials, Shelburne Road has been shut down, with no word when it will be reopened.
“Due to the scope of the washout, we do not currently have an estimated timeframe for reopening the road to through traffic. We will keep you updated,” officials with the City of Greenfield explained Wednesday.
We’re told the washout occurred at the Wheeler Brook culvert, about 0.8 miles west of the Homestead Avenue/Shelburne Road intersection.
Properties to the west of the washout are only accessible now from Shelburne and properties to the east are only accessible from Greenfield.
