“We cannot afford to turn our backs on them”: Ice protestors gather in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- Saturday morning, people gathered across the country to protest immigration enforcement, including right here in Western Mass.
A large public standout was held at the intersection of Boston Road and Parker Street in Springfield. Rise Up Western Mass was just one of the many groups across the area that joined in solidarity.
The gathering was held to demand justice for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero; the two men who recently died in encounters with ice in the same week.
