WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -- Westfield Technical Academy Horticulture Technology students have the opportunity to train on new equipment thanks to a donation of an electric mini excavator from the Volvo Corporation and Tyler Equipment.

The specific model donated is electric, which experts say provides a unique opportunity for students.

We spoke with Tony Brignoli, Volvo Construction Tyler Equipment Western Mass Sales Rep, who tells us, “This project together is going to allow the students a ton of learning advantages in an emissions free environment, a noise controlled environment, and it’s going to allow to build future workforces in the trades.”

Educators say that this will supplement the training that students receive through simulators and will be used by students for years to come.
