WILBRAHAM, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- A four-day youth baseball clinic is coming to Western Massachusetts this August, giving players ages 6 to 16 the chance to train alongside former professional baseball players, physical therapists, college coaches, and professional scouts.

Dustin Brisson played baseball at the University of Central Florida before being drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2000. Now retired from professional baseball, he founded Forge Athletics in 2024.

“…Just meeting a lot of kids through my daughter and they just asked me, you know, ‘Are you interested in training our son or training our daughter?’ and it just kind of snowballed from there, where I was...I just started training one kid, two kid, three kid,” Brisson explained. “…When I founded this company, my goal was to bring the best instructors, the best trainers to these kids of the area.”

The clinic is designed to develop what baseball refers to as “five-tool players” - athletes who can run, throw, field, hit and hit for power.

Participants who have trained with Forge Athletics said the program has produced results.

“He’s been developing me for two years now and the progress I’ve been seeing is incredible,” said Parker Scopa, a clinic participant.

“It makes it so much better. Every time we go to his clinic, the games after, we’re so much better than we were before. We just play so much better after we come to see him,” said Colin Taylor, another clinic participant.

Forge Athletics will host the clinic August 10 through 13 at Spec Pond in Wilbraham. Registration is $300 and you find more information on their website.
