SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A Wilbraham man is facing several charges after allegedly robbing a Springfield bank.

Springfield Police spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that officers were called to a ban on the 1800 block of Boston Road around 4:50 p.m. Wednesday for a reported hold-up alarm. They learned that a suspect allegedly handed a note to a teller while holding a concealed object. The suspect then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

By utilizing city cameras, they were able to locate the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Keagan Mahabir of Wilbraham, along the 1600 block of Boston Road. As they approached, Mahabir reportedly ran into traffic, but was arrested following a brief foot pursuit. Officers reportedly seized a knife from his pocket and found the cash that was taken from the bank.

Mahabir is facing charges including armed robbery while masked, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

The case remains an active and ongoing investigation.,
