NORTHAMPTON, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- Authorities are investigating after a woman died following a fall from a Northampton balcony.

Northampton Police Capt. Corey Robinson said officers were called to McDonald House on Old South Street around 12:45 a.m. after a report that a woman had fallen from a sixth-floor balcony.

When they arrived, police found an unresponsive 32-year-old woman on the ground. Emergency crews worked to provide life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead. The woman’s identity has not been released.

The incident remains under investigation by Northampton Police, in conjunction with State Police detectives assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office and the Mass. State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
