Driver escapes injury as tree falls on vehicle in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG — It wasn’t an ideal start to the week for a driver whose car was crushed by a large oak tree in the early morning hours of Monday. No injuries were reported, however.
According to the Williamsburg Police and Fire Department Facebook page, the tree fell across Route 9 in the vicinity of Hyde Hill Road at approximately 6 a.m. and struck the vehicle. The driver safely got out of the vehicle, and was evaluated by first responders from Highland Ambulance but otherwise declined further medical attention.
By 7 a.m., foliage in the road was cleared by firefighters and members of the Williamsburg Highway Department, and the totaled car was taken away.
