Juvenile disturbance at Amherst Regional basketball game leaves some injured

AMHERST — A disturbance involving juveniles, and which caused minor injuries to some of those involved, took place at Amherst Regional High School Friday evening, according to Amherst Police.

Officers responded to the high school at 7:40 p.m. for a report of an active disturbance, with those participating in the incident having attended an athletic contest there.

That evening, Amherst Regional and Northampton High Schoool faced off in a boys basketball game, with the Hurricanes beating the Blue Devils in the “Battle of the Bridge” 75-57.

Police said those injured in the incident were attended to.

Due to the involvement of juveniles, no additional information was expected to be released, police said.
