Two injured in rollover crash in Pelham

PELHAM — Two people trapped inside a vehicle that rolled over on Amherst Road at upper North Valley Road Thursday at around 1:45 p.m. were taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, one by a LifeFlight helicopter, according to Police Chief Gary Thomann.
While emergency responders had to get both occupants out of the vehicle, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Thomann said.
The road was closed for about three hours as area police and fire departments responded. The crews also established a landing zone in an open field near 180 Daniel Shays Highway, Route 202.
Both Pelham Police and Massachusetts State Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
A post put out on Facebook by the department expressed appreciation for those who assisted at the scene:
“We would like to thank Shutesbury Police Department, Pelham Fire Department, Amherst Fire Department and Belchertown Fire Department for their quick response and assistance in extracting the occupants while rendering medical aid.”
