10th annual Thomas J. Sullivan Remembrance Run takes place at East Forest Park

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - The 10th annual Gunnery Sergeant Thomas J. Sullivan Remembrance Run to honor his sacrifice happened on Sunday. The 5k run was held at East Forest Park’s Nathan Bill’s Bar and Restaurant. Thomas’s brothers Joe and Jon own the restaurant. Joe said on the 10-year anniversary this race is more important than ever.

Thomas was a graduate of Cathedral High School, proceeds from todays race will go to the Gunnery Sergeant Sullivan Fund at Pope Francis High School and the Galaxy Council support of the Marine Corp’s birthday ball.

Thomas J. Sullivan was a three-time Purple Heart recipient and served two tours in Iraq. He gave his life defending this country during an domestic terror attack on a naval reserve center in Tennessee.

300 attendees were expected, and they will be receiving volunteer military support, despite the government shutdown.
