City of Chicopee honors Veterans Day

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The City of Chicopee held a day of celebration this Veterans Day.
The celebration began at Saint Stanislaus Church Tuesday morning, where a memorial service was held to honor those dead who served.
The agenda then took residents to the Veterans Plaza on Front Street for a Wreath Laying ceremony before lunch was served at the Knights of Columbus.
Western Mass News caught up with Chicopee’s Mayor John Vieau, who praised what he calls a “veteran proud city”.
“We have over 4000 veterans who live here, and there’s a lot of pride... just to be a part of those who’ve protected this country and serve every day is something very special, and we take a lot of pride in doing that here in Chicopee,” he stated.
Mayor Vieau also says that unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day honors all veterans’ dead or alive for their sacrifice.
