Multiple crashes reported on icy roads in Pittsfield, Lanesborough

PITTSFIELD — Numerous crashes were reported Tuesday as a persistent snowfall that grew more intense as the day went on slickened roads just in time for the evening commute.
Police in Lanesborough posted on social media that there were multiple crashes, and asked people to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.
Images in a local social media group showed what appeared to be a vehicle flipped on its roof on Hancock Road in Lanesborough. Another post indicated that the Berkshire Mall Connector Road was closed.
In Pittsfield, police also posted to remind motorists to slow down and use extra caution.
"Our officers are responding to multiple reports of vehicle crashes," the post said.
