The Amherst College women’s hockey team punched its ticket to the Frozen Four of the NCAA Division III Championship tournament after shutting out Elmira, 3-0, in the quarterfinal round at Orr Rink on Saturday afternoon.

The Mammoths will be making their third appearance in the Frozen Four in the past four years when it takes on Wisconsin-River Falls on Friday, March 27. Amherst fell to the Falcons in last season’s national championship game, 3-1.

In the win against Elmira, Marie-Eve Marleau, Maeve Reynolds and Bea Flynn potted goals for the Mammoths while goalie Natalie Stott secured a 35-save shutout.

Amherst is the No. 4 seed in the bracket and River-Falls, the reigning champions, are the top seed. Norwich and Nazareth make up the other national semifinal contest.

The Mammoths currently hold a 21-2-6 record.
