SOUTH DEERFIELD — Elai Machado and the KIPP Academy football team made quite the opening statement in the MIAA Division VIII Tournament on Friday night.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound quarterback threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns, and added a trio of first-half rushing TDs to lift the ninth-seeded Panthers to an impressive 46-6 win over No. 8 Frontier in the D-VIII first round.
