WILBRAHAM — Two years ago, Max Baroni wasn’t quite sure what position he’d be playing. Fast forward to this week, and the Minnechaug football senior is on the brink of setting a new Western Massachusetts record.

The Falcons wide receiver is currently tied for the area mark for career receiving touchdowns with 22. Minnechaug’s Alex Henry (2019) and Springfield Central’s Joe Griffin Jr. (2021) also caught 22 TDs in their high school careers, meaning Baroni has a chance to vault into rarefied air with one more score in Friday’s Western Mass. Class A Bowl Game against Chicopee Comp (6 p.m.).
