Nate Desbien continued his goal-scoring tear in the Amherst boys lacrosse team’s 10-2 win over South Hadley on Thursday.

Desbien whipped in six goals to power the Hurricanes, as the sophomore has now scored 11 goals in the past two games.

Against the Tigers, Sawyer Ferro (two goals, three assists) and Tri Nguyen (goal, three assists) also played well on offense.

In goal for Amherst, Jason Kim made eight saves.

The Hurricanes improved to 6-5, while South Hadley fell to 5-5 overall.

Girls lacrosse

Smith Voc 9, Monson 4 — Erin Miller could not be stopped as the Vikings’ star pocketed seven goals in the victory.

Miller’s huge game propelled Smith Voc to its sixth consecutive win.

Hampshire 15, Chicopee Comp 12 — Strong games from Rylie Simmons and Reese O’Connell helped the Raiders snap their five-game losing streak.

Simmons found twine a team-high four times, while O’Connell contributed a hat trick.

Hampshire’s last win had previously come against Belchertown on April 13.

Softball

Granby 21, Palmer 4 — The Rams surpassed 20 runs in a game for the seventh time this season in the dominant win over the Panthers.

Rowan Cook and Jaidyn Roberge combined for eight RBIs, while Kara White and Kaitlyn Curran each laced three hits for Granby.

Boys volleyball

Granby 3, Ludlow 0 — Jake Gagnon showed out for the Rams in their sweep against the Lions.

The senior striker secured 12 kills and added eight digs and 10 assists. Daniel Santiago (10 kills) and Nathan Walsh (18 assists) supplemented the Rams’ attack.

Set scores were 25-15, 25-18, 25-20.

Wahconah 8, Hampshire 3 — The Raiders allowed six runs in the fifth inning, which ultimately proved to be the difference in Monday’s Suburban West contest.

Tom Moore (2-for-4) and Riley Florek (2-for-2) were strong for Hampshire.

Ultimate

Amherst Gx 15, Four Rivers 6 — Annika Reddington (four goals, two assists), Aria Haupt (hat trick, two assists) and Myla Peltier (two goals, two assists) led the Hurricanes past their rivals in a pre-Amherst Invitational tune up at Kiwanis Field.

Amherst never surrendered momentum in this one, leading 8-2 at halftime.
