H.S. Roundup: Haverhill halts Easthampton hockey’s win streak

The Easthampton hockey team saw its win streak snapped in its 4-3 loss to Haverhill on Wednesday night. The Eagles had won their previous four games.
Four Easthampton players pocketed multiple points in the defeat in Grayson Prevey-Catrambone (goal, assist), Cal Gworek (goal, assist), Parker Christy (goal, assist), Brayden Fennessy (two assists).
The Eagles (7-7) have three games remaining in their regular season, including one more contest against Amherst.
Easthampton is also one win away from matching its total from the 2024-25.
Boys basketball
Granby 55, Athol 29 — The Rams won back-to-back games for the first time this season in the win over the Bears.
Ray Colon collected a team-high 17 points for Granby, two points more than teammate Zavien Fernandez.
Pioneer Valley 50, Smith Academy 45 — Cajun Benson led the Falcons in the close loss to the Panthers.
Benson tallied 17 points, seven coming in the first quarter alone.
Girls basketball
Easthampton 50, Amherst 24 — The Eagles eased past the Hurricanes in a non-league matchup.
Easthampton went ahead 25-6 at halftime, including an 11-0 advantage after eight minutes.
Samone Young lifted the Eagles with 17 points. Ruth Robison and Iman Skouta each scored six points for Amherst.
Northampton 62, Renaissance 57 — The Blue Devils held off an aggressive second half comeback from the Phoenix in the non-league victory.
Northampton led 27-15 at halftime, but were outscored 44-35 in the final two frames of play.
Emme Calkins poured in 28 points for the Blue Devils and Anna Oravec added 16.
