H.S. Roundup: South Hadley girls lacrosse falls in OT

The South Hadley girls lacrosse team dropped its regular-season finale, 12-11, in overtime against Chicopee Comp on Thursday evening.
The Tigers closed out the campaign with a 5-11 record and will now turn their attention to the Western Mass Class B tournament.
South Hadley will likely face Pope Francis in the first round, while Amherst and Belchertown appear to be the three other schools who made the cut in Class B.
Boys lacrosse
West Springfield 16, South Hadley 1 — The Bulldogs poured in the goals against the Tigers in a rainy non-league contest.
South Hadley has two more games left in its regular season.

Girls tennis
Amherst 3, Pope Francis 1 — The Hurricanes swept in singles competition to close out their regular-season slate with a victory.
Mahima Ganesan, Micayla Shefftz and Marin Carlyon all won in two sets for Amherst.
Second doubles was stopped early due to rain.
Baseball
Hopkins 5, Amherst 0 — Derek Gromacki sat down seven Hurricanes batters in four innings of work, snagging the win on the mound for the Golden Hawks.
JJ Scanlon-Dean produced three RBIs to lead Hopkins.
Smith Voc 4, St. Mary’s 3 — The Vikings scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim their fourth straight win.
Kaleb Jorritsma starred with three hits at the plate, plus eight strikeouts and five hits allowed in 6 2/3 innings, for Smith Voc.
Southwick 7, Northampton 6 — Charlie Agostino-Pierce played the hero for the Blue Devils, smacking a two-RBI double with two outs in the seventh that won the hosts the game.
The victory snapped a six-game skid for Northampton
Girls lacrosse
South Hadley 16, Southwick 0 — The Tigers won in convincing fashion over the Rams, with strong games from Kelcey Zrauniq and Nora Vaughn.
Zraunig led all players with five points (hat trick, two assists), while Vaughn netted four goals.
