New York Giants fire ex-Patriots assistant Brian Daboll

Brian Daboll’s time coaching the Giants has come to an end.
After losing a fourth-quarter lead in Chicago on Sunday, New York is firing Daboll, per NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. The former Patriots assistant was halfway through his fourth season coaching the Giants, who currently sit last in the NFC East at 2-8.
Daboll’s run in New York started well, with the Giants reaching the playoffs and winning a round in 2022, but it’s been downhill since. Daboll’s team went 6-11 in 2023 and 3-14 last year. All told, he went 20-40-1 at the helm in New York.
The 50-year-old has five Super Bowl rings from two separate runs in New England. He served as a defensive assistant (2000-01) and wide receivers coach (2002-06) and then returned as tight ends coach (2013-16) under Bill Belichick.
