Sports briefs: Summer sports programs announced by Northampton Parks and Rec

The Northampton Parks and Recreation Department recently announced a couple of sports programs it’s offering this upcoming summer.
First off, a girls summer pick-up basketball program is being offered for interested players in grades 5-9.
Those who identify as female or non-binary are invited to join Coach Chase in an engaging and educational program that focuses on skill development and the love of the game. Participants will take part in drills, games and scrimmages during each session.
The program will be held Tuesdays, July 7 – Aug. 25 from 6 – 7:30 p.m., at the R.K. Finn Ryan Road Basketball Courts.
Registration information can be found online at www.northamptonma.gov/recreation.
Additionally, a tennis program for adults and youths will be offered, led by tennis director Mike Kolendo and head pro Ryan Paquette. Participants will get to play on newly refurbished courts and all skill-levels are welcome.
Youth tennis lessons will be held on Saturdays, adult tennis lessons on weeknights, a new high school tennis program and skills and drills sessions over the summer and an adult singles tennis league are being offered in 2026.
Registration is now open for most programs. Questions can be directed to [email protected] or 413-587-1040.
