WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - With Tuesday being Veterans Day, cities and towns hold ceremonies to show their support.

The city of West Springfield held a parade on Tuesday to honor the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country.

Western Mass News spoke to Marc Massey, Director of Veteran Services for the Town of West Springfield, who gave us a rundown of who was a part of the parade.

“You see a contingency of 104th Fighter Wing from Barnes Air National Guard Base setting up. Amongst them you have Civil Air Patrol, and you’ve got Cub Scouts,” Massey told us.

Massey also told us, while the parade is to acknowledge veterans, it shouldn’t be the only time they get recognition.

He said, “You know, anytime that you see a Veteran, you know, somebody’s wearing a baseball cap or a T-shirt that identifies them. you know feel free to come up to somebody and say thank you for your service.”
