Youth baseball: Amherst crushes Wilbraham 18-4 in Koufax opener

The Amherst Hurricanes toppled Wilbraham Pullman and Comley, 18-4, in Western Mass. Suburban Baseball Koufax Division (seventh-ninth grade) action on Monday night.

Hurricanes Starter Jackson Bajnoci pitched three no-hit scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Reliever Walker Austin continued with three more strikeouts in two more scoreless innings.

Bats were alive for Amherst, with Agho Mankin and Grayllin Bovaird both going 4-for-4. Austin and Bajnoci each racked up six runs.

Reliever Keenan Hamilton threw three strikeouts in the sixth and went 3-for-3, with two doubles and two RBIs. Andy Handel hit a two-RBI single in the seventh to widen the gap. Wilbraham pitchers threw eight strikeouts and showed strong infield defense, catching runners at third and home.

The ‘Canes face Chicopee Galaxy at home on Wednesday.
