GRANBY, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - In the flurry of anticipation and excitement filling the gymnasium, we let the unknowing student body know exactly what we were there to celebrate.

Some of you may have heard that we’re here for leadership training, some for prom or whatever, but to debunk the mystery, we’re here to surprise a super student who has gone above and beyond in academics, in her day-to-day life, and we are going to celebrate her.

So, who knows Brenna?

We held our breath as the super student walked through the door, met with overwhelming applause and love.

Kelley Romano, a teacher at Granby High, shared what compelled her to nominate Brenna, “She is a phenomenal student, and she just does so much for GHS.”

Her parents see the exemplary work she does everyday at home, and describe what helps her maintain such a busy schedule, She does hard well, and I think she just really loves to try new things and to keep doing things. Like right now we have a sourdough starter in the fridge, I mean every week it’s a new hobby!” Courtney Moreno said.

This Super Student adopts a mindset going into each day that keeps her going, and rubs off on those around her, “yeah just staying positive, I mean why live a life that’s sad when you can live a life that’s happy,” Brenna said.

“She always just pushes everyone to do fundraisers, and trying to get more people, and make a better community for our class,” said Meredith Bartos, one of Brenna’s close friends.

I play all three sports, soccer, lacrosse and basketball with Brenna. She’s just so positive with literally anybody. All the new players all the old players, she’s amazing. I love Brenna,” said classmate and friend Kalli White.

She’s very authentic and unapologetically herself, and I’m just really proud that she has that confidence,” said Brenna’s mother Courtney.

So, what are the next steps for this super student?

“I want be an aerospace engineer, automotive engineer, something like that. Maybe be an astronaut, who knows,” Brenna said.

One small step for man, one giant leap for Brenna Moreno!
