Chilly & Breezy to Start the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - It was a cold start to our Monday, with many of us waking up to temperatures in the teens and 20’s.
Today will feature mostly sunny skies with highs ranging in the upper 20’s and low to mid-30’s. We will also have a persistent breeze gusting at times between 20-30 mph. This will put wind chills in the 20’s for today.
Tonight, winds start to lighten up, and we’re partly cloudy and cold. Lows fall into the lower and middle 20’s.
Tuesday is a First Alert Weather Day. A weak clipper system will bring periods of light snow with minor accumulations. Snow begins between 5-7am Tuesday and lasts all day. Coming to an end between 5-7pm.
We’re looking at about 1-2 inches of snow in the Pioneer valley. Some slightly elevated areas might get close to 3 inches. Then the higher in elevation you go, the hill towns and Berkshire’s, we’re likely to see around 2-4 inches of snow.
Christmas eve is Wednesday, and we’ll see mostly sunny skies with highs between 32-38°, with a gusty wind out of the northwest. Gusting between 20-25 mph at times.
Christmas Day will feature more clouds around, but we remain dry. Highs between 34-40°.
While temperatures do get above freezing Christmas eve and Christmas Day, hopefully we don’t see too much melting from Tuesday’s snow to leave ourselves with a white Christmas. Odds for a white Christmas are much higher in the hills, but that melting factor makes it more of a toss-up in the valley.
We’re tracking the chance for a few more snow showers perhaps late Friday into Saturday. Then another around of rain and snow showers for Sunday.
Next week, the final few days of 2025 are looking dry and chilly.
