Drivers should “expect delays” on Interstate 93 in Boston after a cement truck rolled over Monday morning, state transportation officials said.

The truck turned over on the southbound side of the highway under the Massachusetts Avenue Connector, between South Boston and the South End, the state’s Department of Transportation said just after 10:30 a.m.

After initially closing only the left lane of the highway, officials blocked off three of the four lanes in the area, MassDOT said.

The crash, also involving other vehicles, occurred on a wet Monday morning. Forecasters expected rain to linger into the evening, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms.

By mid-afternoon Monday, traffic remained snarled across much of I-93’s path through Boston.
