SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - We had a cool, refreshing start to the day after a hot day Thursday. We got to 88° on Thursday at Westover. Since we did not hit 90°, we will miss the criteria for a heat wave, which is at east 3 days of 90°+.

Today remains bright and hot. Highs in the upper 80’s and lower 90’s. Humidity also remains low.

Tonight, we’re partly cloudy with lows falling to either side of 60°. A little bit more of a muggy feel by Saturday morning.

Saturday is looking partly sunny, hot and getting muggier ahead of a cold front. Highs in the upper-80’s to low-90’s. Many hours of the day features sun and clouds. Isolated pop-up downpours in the afternoon ahead of our front.

Then as we move into the evening, downpours and thunderstorms roll through. Some of these storms could be on the strong to severe side. The storm prediction center places all of Western Massachusetts under a slight risk for severe weather, 2 out of 5 on the scale.

As the front slowly pulls away, we may see a leftover shower on Sunday, but most of the day is looking dry. Muggy in the first half of the day, with humidity slowly dropping as the day goes on. It’s also warm, but not as hot with highs in the upper 70’s and low-80’s.

Next week is trending warm and dry. Daytime highs ranging in the upper 70’s and low to mid-80’s. Perhaps a stretch in the 90’s once again towards the end of the week.
