SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - It was a chilly start for many of us as we began in the 30’s and 40’s. This weekend, it was a little rainy on Saturday, drier but cool on Sunday. Today we are expecting nicer weather.

Today, we’ll see partly to mostly sunny skies. It’s also warmer too with highs ranging in the low to mid-70’s in the valley, middle and upper 60’s in the hills. It’s also breezy too, winds may gust 25-30 mph at times.

There is an elevated brush fire risk today. This is due to very low relative humidity and gusty winds. Any fires will have a tendency to spread quickly.

Tonight, we’re partly cloudy and cool. We’ll also hang onto a breeze with lows falling to either side of 50°.

Tomorrow, we may start the day off with a couple hit or miss showers, but then we will quickly go partly sunny for the majority of the day. Once again, it’s warm with highs ranging in the upper 70’s and perhaps even into the 80’s. Windy too, gusting between 30-40 mph at times.

Tomorrow afternoon and evening, we also run the risk for a few hit or miss downpours or thunderstorms.

Wednesday, we’re mostly cloudy with some sun in the morning. An approaching cold front will bring us more clouds as the day goes on, and a period of rain later on. Breezy again, gusts between 30-35 mph.

Around mid-day Wednesday, rain should begin in Western Mass, and last through the rest of the day into Wednesday night and Thursday morning. A good soaking, around a half inch to an inch of rain is expected.

Then for Thursday, as rain ends, we slowly dry out with cooler air working in behind the cold front. Highs on Thursday range in the lower 60’s. Upper 50’s to around 60° on Friday under a mix of sun and clouds.

This weekend, Showers are possible for Saturday, and Sunday, Mother’s Day, looking nicer. Sun and clouds with highs in the 60’s.
