Very Cold & Breezy Tuesday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - It was a cold start this morning as many of us began in the teens and single digits.
Today, we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds, and it’s cold and breezy. Highs range in the upper teens to lower and middle-20’s. Winds at times gust between 10-25 mph, putting wind chills likely in the teens and single digits.
Tonight, we’re mostly clear and very cold. Lows in the single digits on either side of 0°. We have another chance to see the northern lights. If you try and go out to see, layer up! Look to the northern horizon and make sure you’re away from city lights. Skies should be clear enough to see.
Wednesday, much of the same. Highs in the mid to upper-20’s, wind chills in the teens and lower 20’s. We start with sunshine, then clouds increase. Perhaps a few snow showers Wednesday night. Likely to bring a few scattered coatings. Nothing major.
Thursday will likely be the nicest day this week. Mix of sun and clouds with highs in the middle and upper 30’s to near 40°.
Then the bitter cold returns. Friday and especially the weekend, we will see the coldest air of the season with some dangerous cold.
Starting Friday night, temperatures will likely fall below 0°, with gusty winds, putting wind chills 10-30° BELOW 0°.
Saturday and Sunday will see afternoon highs only in the teens, with wind chills below 0°. Brace for extreme cold Saturday-Monday.
